Got a few pictures to share this week!

A few weeks ago I got the chance to go out for supper with my middle son, that very rarely happens!!

We got 2 whole hours together, no brothers or sisters with us!

I enjoyed it very much, him, well he was thinking "oh mom"




I had fun, we will have to do that again sometime!!

This last weekend was the Wildlife Awards Banquet. We are active members in our local club, and help out with the night. Since we had to be there first to deliver the beer, I got my daughter to take a picture of my husband and I



We don't often go out together, other than a trip to the city, so this was 'almost a date'

The night was pretty special for our son as well. Cody received a second place award for the buck he shot that last fall. I was his first year able to hunt, and he managed to get a nice sized buck, measured 130

Happy List

It is the weekend again, that in it's self should make the Happy List!!

hmmmm I really should write these down all week as they happen, or as I think of them.

I am Happy that the sun is shining! The temps are still below 0, but the sun is shining, and from inside my house I can pretend!!

I am Happy, that I have a beautiful new house to live in. The Spring Home Show is on in the city, I went last year to get design ideas and what not, when there wasn't even a hole in the ground yet. Seems like we have been here longer, but we actually only started building last May, wow what a difference a year can make!!

I am Happy I got to spend a whole day with my daughter. Since she got her braces we have to travel to the orthodontist once a month, and these have become "our days"

I am Happy also for that on "our day" she competed in her first dance competition of the season. She placed 2nd for her Jazz Solo, and 1st for her Tap group!! I am So happy any proud of her. Hopefully the rest of the competition goes as well, and next weekends does too

I am Happy I got some great mail this week!! Two wonderful little packages.

I am Happy that one of those packages was from Whippy Cakes She makes these cool little flower accessories, they are beautiful!! What I love about these ones are that they come with Velcro and a clip, so you can put them on a headband, or clip them in your hair on their own. Or you can clip them onto your clothing, or purse or what ever where ever. This means that even my daughter, with her short hair can have fun wearing them!!



Her summer line is coming out soon, I can't wait

The other package that made me just as Happy was from Mes Belles Fleurs It is a shop I found on Etsy, and she is from Canada, which makes me Happy too!




Her flowers are beautiful, nice deep colors! She has them on barrettes, ponytail holders, and headbands. I have also heard she is making some new ones on clips, so excited for these ones.

I am Happy that I now have long hair to be able to enjoy these wonderful accessories. About a year and a half ago, when we first decided to build a house, my husband said to me, "I bet you can't let your hair grow from now until we move into our house" (he knows that I have tried to grow it out many, many , many times, only to get to that ugly stage and cut it off again) I took him up on his bet, and now I have wonderful, fun long-er hair!! Of course now that I made it passed the 'ugly' stage, I will keep growing it

Butterhorns

My husband came home before Christmas after being out visiting, and told me I should bake these things that Mrs. J makes.
Me: What things does Mrs J make, what are they?
Him: I don't know, they are like cinnamon twisty things
Me: Cinnamon twists?
Him: kind of

Me: Hey Mrs J, Darc says he had these things at your house the other night and he wants me to make. can I get the recipe?
Mrs. J: well what did he have, I had lots of stuff out
Me: he really isn't sure, he says they were like cinnamon twists, or something
Mrs J: well were they scuffles (cinnamon twists) or were they butterhorns??
Me: ask Darc, he doesn't know

so I get the recipe for both, and both are very good, but the butterhorns are amazing!! I can make 3 dozen at a time, and in 2 days they are all gone!!




Butterhorns
1 Tbsp yeast
1 Tsp sugar
1/2 C warm water

mix together and set aside for 10 minutes

1 Cup Butter
3 Cups Flour
1 Tsp Salt
1/2 Cup Sugar
1 Cup milk
2 eggs (beaten)

Mix flour and butter until crumbly, add sugar, eggs, milk, salt & yeast. Add more flour, about a cup or 2. Mix until the dough gets smooth.
Cover and refrigerate over night
in the morning separate the dough into about 5 circles, roll out each circle, I use a plate and a pizza cutter, lay the plate on the rolled dough, and cut around, put the extra dough back with another pile.

Butter the dough, and use the pizza cutter to cut it into 8, roll each triangle from wide to narrow. place on a cookie sheet

Let rise for 3 hours

Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes, let cool

Once they are cool I put Icing Sugar icing on mine.

Like I said they are gone in no time!!

Friday Confessions

I will step up on to my soap box for this one,

I confess, stupid people really irritate me, and I mean really.

I have been searching for an item since my sons birthday in November, only to find out that it seems that everybody else in the world wants that very same thing too. We found the item in January, but it was back ordered until March, we decided to order it anyway. March rolled around and the item was shipped from the US (for a hefty price for shipping I might add)I received a UPS shipping email with a tracking number, about 2 weeks after it had shipped I decided to check the tracking, only to see it had been delivered, 4 days ago...... why have I not been called hmmmm. I call the drop off and they tell me, nope sorry no package. I call UPS they tell me that yup it has been delivered and signed for......hhhmmmmmm. Call back delivery spot, ask them if they have anybody by the name of ****** working there, seems they do, so the package did get delivered and signed for, but is now lost!!!!!! Ummm hello this is a 5 month waited for birthday present that my son has been asking for almost daily, and you lost it.......

I get a phone call about an hour later they found, someone put something on it, so they never thought to look at it. Ok so I am thinking it must be a rather small box if they can set it down and miss place it, right???? NOPE it is a good foot and a half by two foot box, nice and big, but somebody put something on it.

ARRRARGGHHHHHH I hate stupid people!!

I confess I really dislike winter roads, you know the ones that are ice covered with snow blowing straight across them, from the 40km wind, yeah those ones. Much prefer nice dry summer roads.

The Simple Things~ March 20

It is Sunday again already!! Which means Rebecca Cooper is hosting



When my husbands grandpa passed away we were given the dining room table that he and Grandma bought when they got married in 1944, They bought this table second hand for $25.00. When they bought the set it was a table and 6 chairs, only 2 chairs are still around, so we had to buy new ones.

When we decided to build a new house, we figured we would refinish the table and buy new chairs to match.

My Mother In Law worked may hours on this table for us, and this is the finished product!!



I absolutely love it, it turned out so perfect!!

hmmmmm what to put down, what made me happy

I need to write these things down as the week goes on....

I am happy that my dining room table is all finished and back in my dining room where it belongs, and does it look fabulous!!! Would it be a bad thing to ask that nobody touches it, or sits at it??? :)

I am happy that i re-learned how to knit this week, making myself and a few others a nice cup cozie. You know when you go through a drive through and get a coffee, and the darn thing is too hot to hold. I made a few of these at christmas time, but was told last week, it worked great, but was too small for an extra large coffee, so off I go to Etsy, and search out a few other ideas. Find some knitted ones, well I can do that, and now I have :)

I am happy that I had a date with my middle son last night, just the two of us went out for supper, it was nice, we might have to do it again some time. :)

I am still happy that the weather is getting nicer, the snow is melting!!

I am also happy to say we are at 54 calves now :)

Friday Confessional

not to much to confess this week, I must have been good!

I confess, I actually laughed out loud when I read Mammarazzi's Friday Confessional at *Dandelion Wishes* She made me smile!

I confess, this week my laundry is out of the dryer, really it is.......it is folded on my kitchen table instead.

I confess I HATE WINTER!!! but this spring, with the new yard, and not having any grass or anything, I am beginning to HATE mud and water too. I mean really, why can't I wake up one morning and it be magically dry.

and last but not least

I confess, that it really bothers me when my friends use me. Oh I know they don't' think I know they are doing it. But I wasn't born yesterday, I am smarter than that, and I don't like to be used.

I confess I have a hard time standing up for my self, but I am learning too. I am learning that it is hard to do, but very necessary, for me to stay sane.

Embrace the Camera

I wanted to get a picture of my new headband, now that my hair is longer, long enough to put up, of leave down, all curly. I am loving these flowers. I got this headband from Poppy Row

Sooooo I decide I want to show them in my hair, and try to take a picture. I end up with this one, not a bad picture, of me by any means, I actually like it, but you can't see any flowers




zoom out a bit, and try again.......




3 tries (more like 12 tries) later I get a picture that shows my beautiful flowers, (Along with stuff in my bedroom, good thing you can't see the laundry basket behind me on the bed) I love them, just wish they were on a clip rather than a satin (very slippery, hard to keep in place)headband

Project Life Week 9

Out trust dog. On one of our -34 days, he managed to get into the garage, and wouldn't leave. This was the day my MIL was staining our table and did it smell, wow that stuff was strong. He stayed with her all day inside.




Again I forgot the before picture. This is my husbands grandparents table that they bought when they got married, 60 some years ago. My Mother In Law has been refinishing it for us, for our new house. I had the chairs on here a week or 2 ago, can't wait to be able to show you the whole set finished, and in the dining area







I love my husband, we might not go out on many dates, but we are still very much in love with each other!




I have been looking around for a letter F for a while, still looking for "just the right one". Funny thing is after I got this one, Darc asks me one day, "why did you buy the upside down J?" He had me right confused.




The cutest haircut is back, love this style on her!! Makes her look so grown up!

Simple Things Sunday ~ March 13

On monday my hubbay asked me to make cinnamon buns or doughnuts, being as that I had never done either before, I attempted to find an easy, yummy, well explained recipe.

I spent so much time looking that I had no time to make.

Thursday I tried it with my regular bun recipe......they were ok, but I think my bun recipe should stay strictly for buns.

I tried it again friday, with a quick bun recipe, and it turned out pretty good if I do say so myself. My youngest told me, 'they were 2 thumbs up"

I am Happy that we now have 25 very active calves, all doing great. only 125ish more to go!!

I am Happy that the weather is starting to warm up, temps this week will be around -4 and +2, maybe spring is on it's way to Saskatchewan!!

I am Happy that my middle son has joined Badminton at school, he is very shy and doesnt usually join things, but this week he asked us if he could, we couldn't answer yes fast enough!

I am Happy that I cgot a good visit in with a friend, and I think we may even have made plans for another visit in a few weeks!

I am Happy, about finding a cinnamon bun recipe that I can make, and they even turned out!!!




and finally I am Happy that the sun is shining today, have a great weekend everyone!!

Friday Confessional

I Confess have been lurking over at *Dandelion Wishes* I am quite liking what I see there, I took place in their Happy Place link last weekend, and think I have a few things to confess this week.

I confess, I still have clothes sitting in the dryer, getting cold and wrinkly, but hey, if it needs to be ironed, I don't buy it.

I confess, I made a nasty complaint phone call this morning, but finally got results, and a few freebies as well.

I confess, I love my time at home these days, I know I only work 3 days a week, but I am so much happier staying at home, and doing my own thing, yesterday I baked buns, and today I am trying cinnamon buns, we will see how they turn out.

I confess, I am in love with flower hair pieces, now that my hair is long enough to pull back or put up, I am loving those messy romantic hairdo's. These are 2 sites that I have ordered from Whippy Cake I like the option with these ones that I can pick if I want them on a headband, or just on a clip.

Project Life Week 8

I know there seems to be a pattern here, with pictures of Cody cleaning, my poor son. But when you drag the garbage bag across the floor, and tear it, so it leaks all the way to the garbage cans....you get to clean up the mess.




Steph was 'being me' and taking tons of pictures one night while I was making supper, I did like one of them that she took, and I did manage to get one of her too!







My kids are growing way to fast, it seems like almost every morning, Josh's pants get shorter, and shorter. Now his housecoat, is too small. This makes me sad, they are growing way to fast.







Josh really likes bathing in the 'hottub' as he calls it. We haven't quite mastered how much bubbles is just the right amount. Good thing he likes bubbles.




We all do a lot of ready in our house, especially in the winter. Good thing I work at the library

Happy List, what made me happy this last week......

I found a blog, while I was visiting the links from The Simple Things, she had written down what had made her happy in the last week, and there have been a few times in the last week, that I have thought, 'am I happy?? I should be happy, I have a healthy beautiful family, and gorgeous new house, the most wonderful husband, yes I should be happy.

Simple things make me smile, and make me happy these days;
walking into the bedrooms in this new house and being able to see out of the beautiful big windows, not having to stand on my tip toes to see out.

The view out of the beautiful windows, SO much better than the view from the old house.

Hearing the clunk, clunk, clunk of my husbands coveralls in the laundry, make me happy because that means we have a washer & dryer, and a house to put it on.

Hearing my daughter shot her personal highest score in her Archery club at school

Hearing that my oldest son is confident enough to got out and check the cows for dad, and help out during calving.

Seeing my youngest in a tub full of bubbles

all of these things made me happy, cant wait to see what this week brings

Simple Things Sunday ~ March 6

The other night, after getting my youngest into the tub, and letting him have his play time, he called me into the bathroom, when I got there this is what I seen.

When we decided to build a new house we knew we wanted a big jet tub of some kind, the kids call it a hot tub.

Project Life Week 7

Valentines Day, was on Monday, and the sunrise was even so pink that morning!!






A single rose from the dozen my husband bought me for Valentines day, (he doesn't do that very often)



This is an art project my 8 year old son brought home, while my sister in law was visiting, she told him at the school where she works, they do this craft in grade 5, not grade 3! We both thought he did an excellent job!





I figured it was time to take down my Christmas village, and put up a more spring-y display (I still say the chandelier needs to be higher)




When we moved we inherited my husbands grandparents dining table, that they bought
60+ years ago when they got married. The table was still in excellent shape, and only 2 chair to the set remained, and were not in good shape. We found a store in Saskatoon that would custom make us chairs out of the same quarter sawn oak that the table was made from. These are our chairs. the table has been stripped, and is waiting to be stained the same as the chairs.
